Advice needed: building a chicken run that doesn't look - well, trashy. discussion in 'coop & run - design, construction, & maintenance' started by markdudanj, jan 28, 2013. top posters most liked posts. page 1 of 2 1 2 next > use lumber, not t posts, and attach it well. there is no reason there should be any sagging with adequate support.. Chicken runs made with t posts chicken run building plans next you will require to offer area for your roost. a roost is the location exactly where chicken coop plans rest at night. it is instinctual for chickens to rest above the ground this is why your roost should be at least 36 inches off the ground. try to get the majority of the roost as.
To build a chicken run, start by digging a 12 inch hole for your first fence post, which should be at least 7 feet tall. hold the post firmly while you pack the dirt around the base to secure it. continue adding fence posts 6-8 feet apart until you’ve enclosed the entire area.. I never would have imagined we’d turn it into a chicken coop, garden shed and chicken run: after we finished the chicken coop renovation of the depot, we started building the chicken run. we started right up against the chicken coop, first moving the dirt around to make it as flat as we could.. I’d sunk those posts a couple of years ago with this project in mind, but i wasn’t keen on locking the nugs up so until now i never took the time to finish it. the area is about 8×12 (not nearly big enough, but i have a plan to expand the run later) and the chickens will be able to access it right from the coop..
